A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating untruths regarding her sex and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing defamatory statements about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's biological sex.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof contradicting her allegations in favour of platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
