One extended journey through the Land Down Under is being halted days after the fatal incident of an senior lady who was stranded by the vessel on a distant island.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on Lizard Island with fellow passengers from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship departed without her and returned later that day after the crew discovered the passenger was missing.

A major hunt found her person the next day.

Officials are investigating the incident, together with police and the state coroner.

Head of the voyage organizer stated that passengers and personnel on the ship were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior engine troubles".

Via official communication, he mentioned that travelers would be provided a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also issued an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a directive to the Captain" preventing any additional guests from getting on the vessel.

The official said that they would inspect the liner in the port city upon its return.

The liner initially left the Australian port on October 24th, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the point of the elderly woman's death. The remote island was the initial destination on the itinerary.

Passengers on the vessel - who usually pay tens of thousands of dollars to participate in the cruise - were ferried there for a daily excursion with the choice of walking or snorkeling.

Relatives Response

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the liner left Lizard Island after an scheduled outing without my mother".

Through her comments, she portrayed her mum as an "vigorous 80-year-old" who was a participant of a walking club.

"From the little information we have been provided, it looks that there was a lapse of attention and basic judgment," she stated.

She added that she hoped the inquiry would be able to determine what "the operator should have undertaken that might have protected Mother's being".

"Based on information from the police that it was a exceptionally warm day, and she became unwell on the uphill trek," she revealed.

"Officials suggested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the vessel sailed away, seemingly without doing a passenger count.

"At a certain moment in that process, or not long after, mum succumbed, alone."

Operator Response

Via official communication, the Head verified that the operator was "working closely with officials to aid their examination".

He said that the organization was "very regretful that this has transpired" and had extended its total backing to the relatives.
